What is this treatment?
Verrucas can sometimes remain for months or even years despite treatment. Verruca needling is a specialist treatment designed for persistent verrucas that have failed to respond to more conventional treatments, and is considered our most advanced option when other treatments haven't worked. The procedure works by repeatedly puncturing the verruca under local anaesthetic, introducing verruca tissue into the deeper layers of the skin, with the aim of stimulating your body's own immune response to recognise and fight the HPV virus responsible for the verruca.

What happens afterwards?
Some tenderness is normal once the local anaesthetic wears off. A follow-up appointment is arranged to assess your response to treatment. Verrucas don't normally disappear immediately after needling, the aim is for your immune system to gradually recognise and clear the infected tissue over the following weeks and months.
